barefoot running.
this is it, i’m going to do it.
i went out for a quick loop this morning in just my socks and it felt natural. i had a perfect midfoot strike going on without even thinking about it. i went slowly and didn’t go far at all because i still need to toughen my feet up but i’m pretty set that this is the right thing for me to do. i seem to go without shoes whenever i can in other...

i want to transition to barefoot running.
i’m not sure exactly how to start so i’ll have to do some reading and research.
it just seems like the logical thing to do.
i’m excited.

everything in this house is full of sugar.
i’m visiting my dad’s house and even breakfast was hard..
i was going to make oatmeal - no regular oats, only flavored sugar-loaded packets. i knew my stepmom bought greek yogurt so i decided to have that.. of course it’s not plain so that was full of sugar. only sugary cereals and granolas, too. then i wanted some peanut butter, read the label, and the stuff was loaded with...

one of the things i love about running
is knowing that it’s something i’ll be able to enjoy for almost all of my life.
because that would be stressful, if running were a sport like gymnastic where you peak early and then your career is over. but it’s not - with running, you don’t peak until you’re almost 30 and the decline after that is a very slow one. i’m not concerned about the fact that...

christmas morning
this morning i got up, went on a quick run, ate a small breakfast, and showered. all before my brother even woke up for morning festivities.
though i guess that doesn’t say too much because it’s almost 11 and he’s still asleep.
This time, I'm going to do it right: Twas the... →

Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the gym All the Fitblrs were sweating, getting fit, not just thin
Their bottles were filled with Nuun and H20 Their workouts still had 20 minutes to go
They finished, they stretched and went home to their beds And visions of deadlifts and runs…

thanks for all the responses to my question!
i agree with what pretty much everyone suggested - i need to be doing way more weight training/muscle building. i’ll try to put the emphasis on that, which is going to get a lot easier once i’m back at school but i’m going to work with what i have while i’m at home.

is it possible to be only 15% body fat /and/ be...
i feel like at this body fat percentage, i should feel more muscular and less.. fleshy.
maybe i just need to put a lot more emphasis on weight training and less on running. which is hard now that i’m home and don’t have a gym or any weights..
ugh, excited for next semester so i can go to bodypump and get personal training and become ripped and awesome.
any advice for the...

Tonight I went back and read the recap of my very first marathon. It had been 10 months of doing life. I had dropped 125 pounds, finished a 5K, a 10K, half-marathon, a couple triathlons, and done it with the most important people in my…

so i want to get a gps-enabled sports watch
mainly just something that will track my time, pace, and distance. heart rate is a plus.
all i’ve really seen so far are the garmin forerunners.. but there’s a lot of options just within those. i also looked at the timex run trainer but it’s not available yet. i’m willing to spend a decent amount of money if i’m going to be getting a quality product that will last...

fit-to-be-thin:
You aren’t healthy and certainly not fit. This may just be my opinion, but I can’t stand reading posts from idiots who think eating under 1000 calories and obsessively exercising qualifies as fitspo.
THIS. it drives me crazy when i see ‘pro-ana’ and ‘fitspo’ tagged together..

plankin'
i’m going to add more planks to my workout regimen. and really push myself.
i’m done one and two minute planks. i know i can do five. it’s time to get out of my comfort zone and expand my horizons.
this also applies to all of my fitness goals, especially running, but this feels like a good place to start.

home for break
no classes for a month - the relief is tangible. i haven’t had free time like this since the end of the last semester. i’ll be using this time to:
spend time with friends and go to parties
spend time with my family and do holiday things
and also..
do a lot of cooking and baking - i have so many recipes saved that i didn’t have time to try during the semester.
run! (and...

do they not know or not care?
that’s my thought when i see people some people at the dining hall. i’ll admit, i tend to judge people based on their food selections because sometimes it’s just ridiculous. no, i don’t think anyone needs 4 glasses of pepsi or an entire plate full of chicken nuggets and french fries. do they realize what they are doing to their body? do they not even care?
