having faith in the run
i almost didn’t run today.  for no reason other than that i was tired and it was cold and rainy outside.  inside, i sort of knew that running would make me feel better.  but getting on the bus and heading home just seemed so much easier than going to the gym, changing, and facing the road. but i did it anyways.  i had been carrying my running gear around all day and i wasn’t going to...

question for my lovely followers
how would you feel about reading more personal posts about my life beyond health and fitness?  as in more about school, dumb things i do with my roommate, random adventures, etc.  some potential responses include: it’s your blog do whatever you want. i follow this blog because i want to see posts about health and fitness, i would prefer if you kept extraneous posts limited. i’d...

need to man up and go out on this run.
confession: i haven’t gone on a real run since last sunday because of regionals and i’m NERVOUS to go out and run now.  which is totally dumb because even if i get out there and suck, it’s still a run.  so i’m just sitting here wasting my time. okay.  I’M GOING. see you guys in some number of miles.

met with my school's nutritionist today to talk...
i got some really good advice and i think it’s going to be easier than i thought!  i can ask for my food to be served from back-up bins so that i’m not risking cross-contamination from nearby foods with gluten.  they also have a bunch of specialty gluten free items that i can request.  i can call in early for my meals or even send them a week’s meal plan in advance and my food...

fitminine: This girl deadlifts 315 lbs. THREE-ONE-FIVE, holy shit! And she does NOT look bulky at all! She’s actually 5’4, 140lbs, and looks leaner than me. Proof that heavy weights will not make you girls look like Arnold. Most guys can’t even look like Arnold. I’m gonna start focusing on strength again. Getting weak. damn, girl.

timed a mile for the first time in awhile
kelseynoll: i ran it in 8:30.  i really had no idea what to expect from myself but i’m kind of disappointed because i thought i’d have a lower time. but that’s just more motivation to keep working harder and improving my technique. i’ll be faster next time. reblogged this post from my personal.  this was over the summer, around six months ago. i’ve been true to my word about working...

comprehensive health update
well, the doctor finally called and results still aren’t conclusive but i’ve been talking so ambiguously about what’s going on that i’m just going to lay it all out. in november, i went to see my doctor because i hadn’t had my period in 3 or 4 months.  she sent me for bloodwork and the cbc indicated that my hemoglobin was really low (i think it was 6.9) and that i...

i think i have to go for a run.
a. it’s FUCKING BEAUTIFUL OUTSIDE HOLY SHIT.  as much as my snowboarder self thinks this is appalling, my runner self is itching to get out there. b. my doctor was supposed to call with my test results by the end of the week and i STILL HAVEN’T HEARD.  i just called up to ask and the secretary told me she would leave a note for them to call me and get back to me by the end of the day....

i could definitely feel the difference in my run...
monday (two days ago) i was coming off of two rest/cross training days (does snowboarding count as cross training?).  yesterday i did bodypump.  today i was definitely feeling the burn… it did not feel easy like monday’s run.  i made it 7 miles in some amount of time that i don’t remember since my garmin is off, definitely slower than monday though. i think i’m going to...
