part-time athlete

remember that time i was really tired and didn’t exactly feel like going out for a run but i knew that once i was out there i would feel better and when i came back i would feel awesome and energized and glad that i went?

well i was right!  before i even hit a quarter of a mile i sank into my “i’m so happy to be running” mentality.  i ran 6.74 miles in 1:01:35, average pace of 9:08.  i was originally planning on doing an 8-mile loop but it got dark and my university’s downtown is pretty sketchy so i decided to cut it short.  nonetheless it was a really nice run - my legs have been feeling amazing lately.

i would also like to take a minute and reflect that less than 2 months ago i ran a 5k in like 36 minutes and felt like i was going to die.  today when i hit the 5k mark, i was under 30 minutes and didn’t even realize i had gone that far already.  i think that being diagnosed with anemia and starting to take iron has made a huge difference, physically and mentally.  i feel so much stronger knowing how much weaker i felt not so long ago.. it’s like my body is finally showing me what it can do.
