Q & A
How did you start running?until a little less than a year ago, i never really ran for the sake of running. to me, running was always a means to an end.
before, i only ever ran to be in shape for field hockey, which i’ve been playing since i was around 12 years old. i ran to get the ball, defend, or get in position. i was always happy to run in practice and in games because i saw a purpose, but just plain running always bored me. my dad even suggested that i join cross country all through high school but i had no interest at the time.
and that’s the way it was until last year. i joined the club field hockey team at my university and decided i needed to be running more on my own time to stay in shape, so that’s what got me started. around the same time, i went through a really tough break-up that left me with a lot to deal with emotionally. and then i discovered that what is good for my body is also good for my mind. i could go out for a run feeling hurt and overwhelmed and come back feeling strong and confident. it all clicked together.
i’ve been dedicated to fitness and running ever since.
