so happy to be planking.

hey guys.
i’m done with all my finals.
because i kicked ass on the standardized orgo exam and got exempt (!!) from the real final, which isn’t until the 9th. and today i handed in my one take-home final and my last research paper. so the semester is officially over for me!
i’m ready to go home but I DON’T WANNA PACK.

surprise plank challenge today! i went to a yoga event that my school held and got there early, and they had a ‘plank for a tank’ contest (winner got a lululemon top!). i was obviously super excited and entered and came in SECOND PLACE… i made it to ten minutes with the woman next to me and then they had us do pushups, where i collapsed. i’m stoked about making it to ten minutes - my previous record is five! and the woman who won is a fitness instructor and i saw her do a fifteen minute plank last semester.. so yeah. but damn i really wanted a lululemon tank.
p.s. my form is a little spotty here.. i corrected though and got my butt down.
half marathon was awesome.
still waiting for official time (and photos!) to go online because i didn’t feel like hanging around the results tent, but i’m pretty sure i finished right around 1:55:05. which i’m totally stoked about because i just wanted to make it under 2 hours.
i started with the 9 min/mile pacing group, which i was worried would feel too fast initially. however it was just the opposite, i felt great and pushed ahead of them and kept my pace below 9 min/mile for almost the entire race. for the last 5k i picked it up a little more and tried to keep it below 8:30. and for my final kick, i just let loose and gave it everything i had. the final straightaway was deceptively long and i was worried i had started my kick too early. then i saw my dad cheering for me and my roommate and two other friends (who i didn’t even know were going to come!) and that gave me what i needed to push it out until the finish… at which point i was ready to collapse.
as a side note, water stations are great. can i get those on every one of my runs?
summary: i feel like a champ!

i had my vo2 max measured today for a research study and got 52.6 ml/kg/min, which puts me in the 90th percentile for women! the test was pretty intense, i made it to stage 5 which is 5mph on an incline of 18.
also, my phone case matches my new running clothes.
